thyroid health

The thyroid is a gland located in the front of your neck that produces hormones that are important for your body's growth and metabolism. The two main hormones produced by the thyroid are called triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4).
These hormones help regulate metabolism, growth/development, body temperature, and heart rate.

Connection between the thyroid and adrenal glands

The adrenal and thyroid glands are interconnected and work together to regulate various functions in the body. Cortisol, produced by the adrenal glands, can affect thyroid function, while thyroid hormones are necessary for the proper functioning of the adrenal glands.

Comprehensive thyroid testing

Typically only one or two tests are ordered to evaluate the thyroid glands functionality.  These tests may not provide a complete picture.
Dr. Putnam will look deeper measuring at least 5 thyroid specific marking including thyroid antibodies, if indicated.  She may also order additional tests to assess nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, or other factors that could be contributing to thyroid dysfunction.
