Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic doctors complete a four-year post-graduate doctorate level degree program, which involves the study of basic and applied medical sciences such as anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, minor surgery, pharmacology, as well as clinical and physical diagnosis.  After completing a series of nationally administered board exams, naturopaths are licensed to perform physical exams, laboratory testing, gynecological exams, nutritional and dietary assessments, allergy testing, and other means of diagnosis.

Naturopaths are experts in the use of natural therapies as well as drug/nutrient and drug/herb interactions.   NDs are trained in a myriad of natural therapies including herbal medicine, homeopathy, counseling, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, pharmaceuticals, and nutritional supplements.  Naturopaths are skilled at treating both children and adults with acute and chronic conditions as well as offering preventative care.

Naturopaths, on average, spend more time with each patient allowing for a more in depth intake and exam.  This increased face-to-face time fosters the partnership between doctor and patient.
